The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is the preeminent trade association promoting growth in the $161 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry, encompassing legislative advocacy, market research, technical training and education, industry promotion and the fostering of business and strategic relationships. CEA also sponsors and manages the International Consumer Electronics Show. In January of 2007, CE Interactive became the first technology company to be honored with direct investment from CEA.

HDMI.org is the agent responsible for licensing the High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) specification, which was developed by Hitachi, Matsushita (Panasonic), Philips, Silicon Image, Sony, Thomson and Toshiba as the digital interface standard for the consumer electronics market. The HDMI specification combines uncompressed high-definition video and multi-channel audio in a single digital interface to provide crystal-clear digital quality over a single cable.
